The Welsh 3000's

The Welsh 3000's is a mountain walking challenge which sees the challenger walk 26 miles or more to summit all 15 mountains in Snowdonia above 3000 feet (914.4m). This challenge is often regarded as more difficult than the National 3 peaks especially as it requires a greater technical ability on the mountains.

Most groups aim to complete the challenge within 24 hours however there are other options for those who wish to take a more relaxed approach to really soak up the experience these mountains have to offer.

If you do plan to complete the challenge in 24 hours our experienced leaders will support you throughout the challenge. In return you will need a head for heights and the physical ability to walk for 24 hours carrying any kit you may need.

The Route

The route for the Welsh 3000's is not a set route and can change according to the wishes of the group.

Generally the route is completed from south to north starting with the Snowdon Massif, the Glyderau and finishing on Foel Fras in the Carneddau. The route can also be completed the other way round finishing on Snowdon.

The challenge usually starts when you reach the first summit and ends as you get to the Trig point of your last summit.

Which ever way you decide to go an early start is required with some of the mountains being bagged during the night.
